During an early morning radio interview, after joking about why "we don't get up at 6:30" in the morning, Jay-Z explains his decision to make his "Blueprint" albums a trilogy. The clip was caught by cameras for his Absolut Vodka concert series "NY-Z" documentary, which premieres on Absolut's Facebook page on Monday (March 22).

"I wanted the 'Blueprint' series to be a trilogy because of what it represented," he says. "The first 'Blueprint' was the soul samples I grew up on, my blueprint. Then 'The Blueprint 2' was me searching for all the different types of music I like. But I ain't have a reason to do the third one, so I didn't do it for a while. But it was just fitting right now where I am in my career for me to set the 'Blueprint' for my next journey."

When asked if he wasn't worried about the comparisons between the volumes, Hov assuredly said, "I'm used to that type of pressure."

"The Blueprint 3" has sold 1.7 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen Soundscan. Watch the trailer to "NY-Z" below.
