IN JESSICA'S 'SKIN'

Hello Keith,

I was wondering whether you could tell me how many albums Jessica Simpson has sold. I'm just really curious in light of all her recent success.

Thank you!

Thomas Fishenden

Hi Thomas,

Here are Jessica Simpson's U.S. album sales for her four Columbia releases, according to Nielsen SoundScan:

"Sweet Kisses" - 1.8 million
"Irresistible" - 650,000
"This Is the Remix" (EP) - 21,000
"In This Skin" - 1.1 million

Her latest, "In This Skin," was recently reissued with three bonus tracks, a new cover and a DVD with bonus footage from her wedding to Nick Lachey. Such was the interest that the set jumped from No. 16 to No. 2 on The Billboard 200 in its 29th week on the chart.

WILDE IN AMERICA

Keith,

Can you please tell me how much Kim Wilde's "The Singles Collection 1981-1993" has sold? It only has three U.S. hits: "Kids in America," "You Keep Me Hangin' On" and "If I Can't Have You." I know that it went gold and platinum around the world, but I'm curious about its U.S. sales.

Brian Almund

PS: In 2003 Kim Wilde & Nena enjoyed a No. 1 smash hit "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime."

Hi Hi Brian,

Kim Wilde's "The Singles Collection 1981-1993" has sold 33,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Certainly, Wilde didn't have a lot of stateside success on the charts. She only charted five singles on The Billboard Hot 100, including one No. 1 hit, "You Keep Me Hangin' On." However, in the U.K., she fared much better. In fact, she charted more singles there in the 1980s than any other British solo female artist.

"The Singles Collection" includes all of her top 20 U.K. hits.

And yes, you are right, "Anyplace, Anywhere, Anytime" (her duet with Nena), was a No. 1 hit. It reached the top of the singles charts in both Austria and the Netherlands. It was also a top three hit in Germany.

BUILT TO 'LAST'

Hi Keith,

I read your column every week. I'm always impressed with your ability to answer really hard questions. This one shouldn't be too hard. I'm wondering how many copies Cyndi Lauper's latest release "At Last" sold and how it compares to her previous albums.

Thanks,

Keith Barth

Hi Keith,

Indeed, this is an easy answer. Cyndi Lauper's "At Last" has sold 276,000 copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

It is her biggest selling album since the greatest hits set, "12 Deadly Cyns... And Then Some." That album, released in 1995, has sold 565,000 copies.
