On Tuesday (Dec. 6), acclaimed indie-folk songwriter Andrew Bird announced that his twelfth studio album, "Break It Yourself," will be released on Mar. 6, 2012, and issued list of spring tour dates throughout North America. Meanwhile, Cash Money rapper Birdman released a music video for his new single, "Y.U. Mad" featuring Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, last week, in anticipation of a new album that is expected to be released in early 2012.
Coincidence? Hardly. Although Andrew Bird and Birdman remain slightly different stylistically, both artists have remained staples in their respective genres for over a decade. While Bird found success as the leader of the folk rock collective Bowl of Fire in the late '90s before moving on to solo work, Birdman held it down as one-half of the Big Tymers before putting out solo material in the 2000s and heralding the arrival of Lil Wayne as the best rapper alive. Although Andrew Bird and Birdman have yet to record a song together, the Bird's thesaurus-stricken lyrics and lush arrangements would no doubt fit snugly next to Birdman's bombastic beats and declarations that he remains, in fact, the number one stunna.
