Over the course of their 30-plus year career, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers have yet to play a U.K. festival gig, and it's been 20 years since their last major show across the pond. But this June they'll be able to cross those off the list when they headline the legendary Isle of Wight Festival.

The famed, Grammy-winning rock band will take the Festival's mainstage on Friday, June 22.

Isle of Wright Festival promoter John Giddings wrote on the Festival's website, "It has taken years to achieve, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait -- they are one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time."

This year's Festival takes place from June 22 to 24, with Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band headlining Sunday the 24th. Other acts include Noel Gallagher, Elbow, Biffy Clyro, and the much buzzed about act The V accines. A headliner for Saturday the 23rd has yet to be announced.
