Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers are postponing the first 10 dates of their North American tour to better coincide with the June 15 release of their twelfth studio album "Mojo." 

As previously reported, the band was originally set to kick things off May 6 in Raleigh, N.C., with Joe Cocker sharing the bill. The tour is now scheduled to begin June 5 in Oakland, Calif., and the rescheduled dates will now be tacked on to the end of Petty's summer tour.

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers will spend the summer playing amphitheaters and arenas, with a host of veteran supporting acts as well as newer openers. ZZ Top, Crosby Stills & Nash, Drive by Truckers and My Morning Jacket will appear at various dates. Joe Cocker will serve as the opener on the first 7 dates, but it's unknown whether he'll join the newly rescheduled dates. Blues legend Buddy Guy has been tapped as the opener for Petty's show at New York City's Madison Square Garden on July 28 and his Philadelphia shows on July 31 and August 1.

"Mojo" is Tom Petty & the Heartbreaker's first studio release since 2002's "The Last DJ" and is said to be recorded live off the floor, with no overdubs, bringing back an aesthetic reminiscent of his work with his early band, Mudcrutch.
