As Spoon gets ready for release next week (Jan. 19) of its seventh album, "Transference", the popular indie rock quartet have announced a headlining tour. Set to kick off in their hometown of Austin, Texas on March 17 as a part of of the South By Southwest 2010 music festival, Spoon will play a mix of clubs and small theaters around the country. The only exception is a March 26 date at New York's Radio City Music Hall, the band's first appearance in the room and one of their highest profile gigs to date. Also on tap are multiple night runs in Washington D.C., Denver, Minneapolis and Seattle as well as an April Fools Days show at Chicago's Aragon Ballroom.

The 21 date tour will feature Atlanta garage-psych band Deerhunter in tow for the entire trek. The Strange Boys will serve as the opener for the first half and Micachu & the Shapes will join for the second half.

In preparation of "Transference," Spoon is streaming the entire record via NPR.com and will celebrate the album's release with an appearance on "The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien."

Although they've been active since the mid 90s, Spoon's popularity has soared over the last several years. The band's last album, 2007's "Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga" has sold 318,000 according to Nielsen SoundScan and peaked at No. 10 on the Billboard 200.
