Pitchfork Music Festival, the three-day music event in Chicago organized and curated by the indie-centric website of the same name, has announced Pavement, Modest Mouse and LCD Soundsystem as headliners of the 2010 edition. Tickets for the fifth annual event, which takes place in Chicago's Union Park on July 16-18 are on sale now at pitchforkmusicfestival.com.
Other bands announced today include Raekwon, Here We Go Magic, St. Vincent, Lightning Bolt, Cass McCombs and Sleigh Bells. The full lineup will be announced in the coming weeks.
The weekend-long event attracts more than 50,000 people over the three days and nights, according to the festival organizers. The 2009 edition was sold-out in advance for all three days.
Tickets for the 2010 Pitchfork festival are $40 for each individual day and $90 for a three-day pass. In addition to bands and DJs performing on three stages, the event includes over 50 specialty vendors, record and poster fairs, and other free musical events in Chicago during the week leading up to the event.
Pavement, a band long-championed by Pitchfork while taking a 10-year hiatus, is returning to the concert circuit this year, and will play the Coachella and Sasquatch festivals prior to its Pitchfork appearance, as well as a multi-night run in New York's Central Park later in the summer. Pavement is also playing and curating the ATP Festival in the U.K. and is booked for the Primavera Sound Festival in Spain, both in May.
