To amend for her disappointing performance at HARD Festival on Saturday (July 24) at Governor's Island in New York, M.I.A. announced on Twitter last night that she will play a free live show in New York City. The singer expressed her frustration with the show's sound problems and promised a free gig for HARD Fest ticketholders after her headlining set was cut short due to threats of lightning.

"Fuck it! im gonna do a free show in nyc when i get back, tho i dont have powers over rain! if u still have the hard ticket u free! Xxxo." M.I.A. tweeted. She added that she would also admit fans who didn't attend HARD Fest "if you do me a lil dance."

HARD Fest featured problem-free performances from Die Antwoord, Sleigh Bells and Rye Rye, but technical issues reportedly drowned out M.I.A.'s vocals during her set. The singer also spit on a photographer from music blog Brooklyn Vegan during the show.

"Money doesnt buy u shit! i thought more money means better sound guys in america/\/\/\! i was wrong, the higher u go, they turn u lower!" M.I.A. wrote on Twitter the morning after the performance.

M.I.A., who is scheduled to begin a European trek on Aug. 1 in London, did not offer any clues as to the date of the free show. Her latest album, "/\/\ /\ Y /\," debuted at No. 9 on the Billboard 200 last week with 28,000 units sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
