George Strait is No. 1 in the latest tally of Hot Tours with $5.8 million in ticket sales reported from arenas in six U.S. cities on his 2012 winter tour outing. On the road in support of his latest album "Here For A Good Time" released last fall, the legendary country artist kicked off his tour schedule at the Cajundome in Lafayette, La. on Jan. 27. With Martina McBride providing support, the Strait tour continued on to Bossier City, Phoenix, Atlanta, Orlando and Tulsa through the middle of February, with more than 83,000 tickets sold in these six markets.
Rod Stewart ranks second on this week's list of the 10 top-grossing tours with over 22,000 tickets sold in the first two markets on his 7-city trek through Australia. The Aussie leg of the veteran singer's Hits Tour launched on Feb. 4 at nib Stadium, an outdoor sports venue in Perth with a sellout crowd of 15,089 in attendance. A sold out performance followed just three nights later in the city of Adelaide with 7,764 fans in attendance at Adelaide Entertainment Centre. Grosses from both shows totaled $3.7 million ($3.9 million US$).
Ticket sales totals from five markets give Brad Paisley the No. 3 ranking this week, adding $2.8 million to his 2012 overall gross that now tops $8 million. Since the country star's Virtual Reality World Tour kicked off in mid-January, the Tacoma Dome in Tacoma, Wash. has drawn the largest crowd with 14,990 in the house for a sold out performance on Feb. 11. CMA award-winning trio The Band Perry and American Idol winner Scotty McCreery are opening acts for the tour.
Sold out multiple-show runs in Dublin and Belfast give Snow Patrol this week's fourth place ranking with box office grosses topping $2.7 million (US$). The U.K.-based rockers sold out both performances at the O2 in Dublin (Jan. 20-21) as well as three concerts at Belfast's Odyssey Arena (Jan. 23-25), filling more than 55,000 seats at both venues. The band played 12 markets in the U.K. and Ireland during January and February and will launch its North American tour in late-March.
