Bon Jovi

Bon Jovi takes the No. 1 spot on the Hot Tour rankings with the first box office totals reported from its Circle Tour that will play arenas and stadiums throughout the year, and into 2011.  The tour kicked off in Hawaii with two performances at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu (Feb. 11-12) and then headed to Seattle followed by shows in six more west coast markets.  The top numbers, as reported by promoter Concerts West/AEG Live, came from a single sold out concert at the MGM Grand Garden in Las Vegas with 14,803 tickets sold and grosses topping $2.6 million.  Providing support is Florida-based rock band Dashboard Confessional, which is tapped to open most of the shows during the first North American leg of the tour.

With shows reported by three different promoters, John Mayer ranks second among the Hot Tours with $5.6 million in tickets sales from arenas in nine markets.  Live Nation handled five of the dates with Washington D.C.'s Verizon Center bringing in the top gross of $960,255 for a Feb. 20 performance.  The TD Garden in Boston sold the most tickets, though, with 14,454 fans filling the arena on Feb. 24.  Chicago-based Jam Productions worked three of the tour's dates in early March promoting shows in Milwaukee, St. Paul and Omaha.  St. Paul's Xcel Energy Center (March 2) had the top numbers for Jam with $646,668 in grosses and a sellout crowd of 9,832.  Beaver Productions of New Orleans reported their own Mayer performance, a March 5 concert at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.

Rapper Jay-Z lands at No. 3 with five shows reported from his Blueprint 3 Tour.  The combined total of all five shows earned more than $4.4 million in box office ticket sales.  His tour actually launched in October, and one of the shows represented in this tally is a late-reported November event (Scotiabank Place in Ottawa, Nov. 1). The four other shows are all from the 2010 leg that includes Young Jeezy and Trey Songz as support acts.  The BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida produced the top gross among the reported dates with a box office total of $1,172,498.
