The 2010 Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival will take place on April 16-18, the promoters announced today (Dec. 14). The event will once again take place at Empire Polo Field in Indio, Calif.
While the lineup won't be officially revealed until early next year, bands like Muse, Pavement, Hot Chip and DEVO are widely expected to be among the more than 150 acts to perform.
Pre-sale tickets go on sale today, with a layaway plan available. The festival is expanding its camping options as well, including car, RV and traditional tent camping. Tickets and camping information is available at Coachella.com.
The 2009 Coachella Festival rang up its second biggest year ever, with an aggregate attendance of 160,000, according to producer Paul Tollett, who credited a lineup that boasted such acts as Paul McCartney, the Killers, Leonard Cohen, My Bloody Valentine, and the Cure for the event's success.n About 18% of attendees took advantage of Coachella's layaway plan for the 2009 festival. The highest attendance for Coachella to date was 186,636 in 2007, which grossed $16.3 million. The 2008 edition drew 151,666 and grossed $13.8 million.
Promoter Goldenvoice's other major festival, the country-leaning Stagecoach, will be held the following weekend (April 24-25). Keith Urban, Toby Keith, Brooks & Dunn and Sugarland are confirmed to headline that fourth annual festival.
