With a shimmying Thom Yorke at the helm and an extra drummer thrown in for good measure, Radiohead performed during the season 37 premiere of "Saturday Night Live" this weekend. Opening with "Lotus Flower" off this year's "The King of Limbs," the now-sextet barreled through the synth-heavy single with ease after being intro'd by host Alec Baldwin.
For their customary second performance, the boys played the non album track, "Staircase," a fairly accessible, bass heavy song with a dreamy, catchy melody line. "Staircase," which debuted over the summer, features the talents of drummer Clive Deamer, a dead ringer for Radiohead's Phil Selway and a frequent contributor to Portishead, among others. Watch:
Surprisingly, the critical darlings behind "OK Computer" and "The Bends" have only done the show once before, back in 2000 while promoting their transformative album, "Kid A." They played "The National Anthem" and "Idioteque" amid skits starring host Kate Hudson. They've released four albums since then, including "Limbs," which bowed in Februrary at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.
