"American Idol" season eight winner Kris Allen traveled out to the middle of nowhere with nothing but a guitar, a piano, a bed and Train's Pat Monahan to find "The Truth."

Video: Watch Kris Allen's "The Truth."

The second single from Allen's self-titled debut album has him getting a bit dusty as he wakes up and performs in the desert for the accompanying video. The clip captures the beauty of color in sunset shots and cascading shadows over the lead girl.

Monahan, who wrote the track with Toby Gad, appears initially in the second verse, singing his heart out into a mic that has apparently been turned off. His voice isn't heard until the third verse (and doesn't at all on the album version of the song) as he helps Allen croon about the pressures of honesty.

Spontaneously, Allen's guitar lights on fire, a scenic transition to the closing night scene where the 'Idol' winner sings the final chorus among hundreds of deteriorating chandeliers hanging in the sky.

Allen is currently on the road opening up for Maroon 5.
