Arcade Fire
Jay Reatard

Before last night (Aug. 2), no one would put Canadian indie favorites Arcade Fire and pop-punk Memphis rocker Jay Reatard in the same sentence. The former put the combination at the tip of everyone's tongues when they covered Reatard's "Oh It's Such a Shame" at their Mann Center gig in Philadelphia.

It's not that clear visibly but you can hear Arcade Fire starting the song slow, with lead singer Win Butler and crew singing in unison over plucked guitar strings and heavy drum beats. Eventually the band picks up the pace and the harmonious vocals are backed by chaotic guitars and intense drumming.

Butler admitted to being a fan of Reatard's music in 2008, though both have completely different musical styles.

Arcade Fire is currently in the middle of a worldwide tour, stopping in New York tomorrow night, Aug. 4.
