Actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt surprised the audience at Piano's in NYC Monday night (Aug.16) by performing a rendition of Aretha Franklin's "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman."

Besides ridiculous covers, he also played original songs on acoustic guitar including one called "See-Through," about the tricky task of trying to tell somebody's personality by looking at them. In the song Levitt sings, "I am what I look like to you but I don't know what you see through/you are what you look like to me but I'm not sure what I see."

Levitt performed as part of the "Summer In the City" Concert to promote his multimedia online company hitRECORD.org, which allows users to submit any type of creative writing, photography or videos and collaborate with other members.

The next hitRECORD event is on September 6th at Piano's. Maybe then he will do a cover of Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive."
