Video: B.o.B Talks 'Classic' Sophomore Album, 'Strange Clouds'

On the same day that he performed at the AMP'd! Up Opening Concert, a night of performances at New York's Best Buy Theater that kicked off Advertising Week on Monday (Oct. 3), B.o.B's latest single, "Strange Clouds" featuring Lil Wayne, officially hit iTunes. The title track from the rapper's sophomore album, which will be released in early 2012, previews what B.o.B describes as an "artistically influenced" follow-up to 2010's "B.o.B Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray."

"I feel like it just overall shows growth," says B.o.B backstage at the Best Buy Theater, where Far East Movement and Natasha Bedingfield also performed. "A lot of people are gonna see a side of me musically that they haven't seen, or that they didn't know was there. I already feel like it outdid the last album."

"The Adventures of Bobby Ray," which spawned hits like "Nothin' On You" and "Airplanes," served as a decisive introduction for the Atlanta rapper and its title as self-explanatory. For his second full-length, however, B.o.B went with a more cerebral title, "Strange Clouds," to reflect his maturity as an artist.

"It's reflective of the growth, and how my perspective has changed," he says. "As the hip-hop community is becoming more influential to the world, I feel like we shed light on topics that are necessary to be addressed in order to progress socially. And 'Strange Clouds' is like a hybrid -- the sci-fi with the organic… It's all about art, it's all about music, and I feel like this album is going to be a classic."
