Trey Songz Allegedly Sued for $18 Million Over 'Bottoms Up' Track

It appears R&B heartthrob Trey Songz is being sued for $18 million over the rights to the song "Bottoms Up," which appears on his latest effort "Passion, Pain & Pleasure."
According to allhiphop.com, a Washington D.C.-based production company has filed a lawsuit against Songz, his label Atlantic Records, manager Gee Roberson, producer Kane Beatz and Kodak -- for the use of the song in an advertising campaign with Songz -- among others. Filed on Feb. 2 by Derrick Price, Doc Mob and IHip Hop Music, the suit claims producer Milton James (aka Tony Scales) produced the original, copyrighted track for Mob's company, Doc Mob Records.
The track was helmed by James in his own home studio, but at some point he teamed up with Kane Beatz, who added some touches to the already existing production. Apparently, Kane took ownership of the beat by giving it to Songz for his Nicki Minaj-assisted track and claiming he was the sole producer on it.
Price alleges he sent various cease-and-decist letters to Atlantic but was ignored.
Tsk, tsk, tsk. I hope this gets settled soon.
