On Tuesday, October 18, Harper Collins will release the first book written by rapper Clifford "Tip" Harris, better known as the rapper T.I. The book, entitled Power & Beauty: A Love Story of Life on the Streets (William Morrow), is a novel written by Tip "T.I." Harris with David Ritz, a novelist who has also co-written the true life stories of such artists as Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, and Grandmaster Flash.
The King of the South has taken on The Throne by releasing a remix to Jay-Z and Kanye West's track "N**gas in Paris."
Along with hopping on every beat possible, T.I. can now add author to his resume with his first novel "Power and Beauty: A Love Story of Life on the Streets," coming out this week.
"I am a fan of [Sistah Souljah's] The Coldest Winter Ever and Midnight, I read them when I was locked up the first time," T.I. told Rolling Stone. "It made me look for other books to entertain and stimulate my mind in the same way and I couldn't find one so I saw a void."
The Rubberband Man also talked about potential titles for his now-untitled 8th studio album with Rolling Stone. "The first of two album titles I'm debating is 'Kill the King' because in all that I've gone through I've observed how people respond to my circumstances, and I always wonder 'Why y'all coming at me like this?' But I thought, 'How do you expect them to act?'" Tip tells Rolling Stone. "Life is a game of chess and the object is to kill the king. If you anoint yourself king, you have made yourself a target. The second one is self-explanatory - 'Trouble'."
T.I. hit New York City yesterday (Oct. 18) to promote "Power and Beauty." After stopping through The View, Howerd Stern and more, T.I. closed the day by debuting a new song, "Hear Ye, Hear Ye," on Hot 97's Funkmaster Flex show. Pharrell Williams, producer and featured on the track, dialed in to premiere the song and say a few words on the collaboration.
"My man came home and I just sent him something," Pharrell told Funkmaster Flex. "And he got to it. You know what it is? He just got home. He's in training. He's getting ready. These are pull-ups, push-ups for Tip."
