Update: According to ?uestlove, D'Angelo's cover of "Black Hole Sun" was recorded close to eight years ago and it will not be on his upcoming album. Oh! And, Questlove didn't leak it. "@Spencer_Murphy my statement on Black Hole Sun: its a demo from like 8 trs ago done in his crib in Va. Its NOT on the album (I did NOT leak)," ?uestlove tweeted.

Yesterday (Jan. 2), a demo track of D'Angelo's hit the 'net. The neo-soul singer covers Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun" on the rough cut, borrowing the rock band's hook from their Alternative Songs No. 2 hit. Check it out below:

Questlove Talks Roots Album, Says D'Angelo Is In 'Home-Stretch' of New Record

D'Angelo's rendition, said to be recorded in 2010, is rumored to be for his upcoming third album. Although yet to be titled, ?uestlove, of The Roots, told The Juice that D'Angelo is in the "home-stretch" of the recording process.

"I'm on his record as well," ?uestlove said. "He's in the home-stretch right now. I know that Fred Wesley and the JB Horns just did a cut that Q-Tip did; I know he's doing his vocals right now."

?uestlove also shared details of D'Angelo's intimate European tour with Pitchfork, via Spin, saying it's an "extremely real thing." D'Angelo is scheduled to stop through Stokholm (Jan. 26), Coepnhagen (Jan. 27), Paris (Jan. 29), Amsterdam (Jan. 30, 31), and London (Feb. 3).

What do you think of D'Angelo's rendition of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun"?
