Montae Talbert, known as M-Bone of the West Coast hip-hop group Cali Swag District, was shot and killed late Sunday night (May 15) in a drive-by shooting in Inglewood, Calif., according to multiple reports.

UPDATE: 3:00pm ET: Cali Swag District has released the following statemetn on M-Bone's death:

"Cali Swag District member Mante "M-Bone" Talbert was the victim of a random act of violence last night, Sunday, May 15th in his hometown of Inglewood, CA. As police are still investigating the shooting and untimely death we ask that anyone with information contact the Inglewood Police Department. Mante, aged 22, was the comedic entertainer of Cali Swag District (who helped launch "The Dougie" to mainstream audiences) and was an inspiration to his family, friends and fans. He was a hardworking, passionate artist and dancer that will be deeply missed."

MTV RapFix cites an Inglewood police spokesperson who says that M-Bone "sustained multiple gunshot wounds to the head" while in his car on La Brea Avenue. He was reportedly taken to a nearby hosiptal and pronounced dead.

Cali Swag District is best known for setting of a dance craze with its hit "Teach Me How to Dougie," which sold 1.6 million downloads, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and peaked at  No. 9 on Hot Hip-Hop/R&B Songs and No. 28 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2010. The group visited Billboard's studio last summer to give a tutorial of the dance (see video below).
