Six months after Winehouse's death, her spirit was reimagined via beehived models strutting down the runway in brightly-colored, 1960s-tinged looks, including reworked bustier tops. The models wore heavy, winged eyeliner and Winehouse's trademark beauty mark above the lip.
"Amy Winehouse was a true style icon," Gaultier told reporters backstage. "What she stands for above all, is uniqueness. Both in music and the way she dressed, she mixed a great many influences to create her style."
Mourning filled the room when a veiled model clad as the tragic star, in a pale pink wedding gown, teetered down the catwalk. "It's not a funeral," Gaultier smiled afterwards. "They are happy brides."
