"We sort of feel like we're part of the country evangelism team," Kimberly said. "We love to hear country songs on pop radio."

"If I Die Young" earned both single and song of the year honors at Wednesday's CMA Awards and the song recently topped Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart nearly a year after hitting the top spot on Hot Country Songs.

"It just proved to be a song that had really long legs," Kimberly said. "We knew when it just lived in an acoustic and vocal that it was a special song that connected with so many people. So whether there were fiddles or an electric guitar on that bridge, it was something that meant something to folks and we were so honored to be part of that."

The Band Perry also picked up the CMA honor for new artist of the year.

"They are all major awards to the three of us," said Kimberly. "There was so much stiff competition this year both in the song categories and new artist. It was a great year to be in country music and we're so honored."
