For our first Tastemakers videos of 2012, Alex Trimble (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Sam Halliday (lead guitar), and Kevin Baird (bass) -- also known as Two Door Cinema Club -- abandoned their usual frantic power-pop and scaled back for synth-free acoustic versions of "Undercover Martyn," "Something Good Can Work," and "What You Know" and we happily hung up our dancing shoes.

It's been nearly two years since the Northern Ireland trio released their debut full-length, "Tourist History" (via Glassnote Records) which came in at No. 5 on the Heatseekers Albums chart and No. 26 on Independent Albums chart.  The band hit the festival circuit hard in 2011 in support of the LP, circling the globe with slots at Coachella, Reading and Leeds, Isle of Wight, and Lollapalooza. But it was their gig at Glastonbury that stood as the pinnacle of the band's career thus far, they explain.

"We got to play on the Pyramid Stage which is a legendary stage. It's every artist's dream and it has been mine since I was about ten years old," said Trimble of the infamous UK festival stage that's hosted the likes of Radiohead, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, R.E.M. and fellow Irish rockers, U2. "It really, really was a dream come true."

Expanding their repertoire while on the road, though, has posed the biggest challenge for the band despite premiering "Sleep Alone," one of three new tracks they found time to write while touring.

"Having played the same songs every night for three years it's making us really hungry to write some new music. We still love our songs but you do reach a point where it's just this cyclical existence."

Coming up, the guys will wrap up their touring whirlwind with a headlining spot on the NME Tour in February before setting up shop in Los Angeles to work on their new album. Slated for fall of 2012, Baird says they've got plenty in reserve to work with in the studio.

"From touring so much we've seen so many different things, we've been to so many different places, met so many different interesting people and had so many crazy experiences and all of that is stuff to write about. We're full of ideas and full inspiration."
