Miss the third audition round of "American Idol" Sunday night after the NFL's NFC Championship Game went into overtime? It's OK. You didn't miss much of anything.

In what was one of the most lackluster "Idol" episodes ever, Randy, Jennifer and Steven traveled to San Diego to see what the lower west coast had to offer. To even say that any of the performances stood out from each other would be a stretch. What's more: during the episode, only eight full auditions were shown at all. And as with the second night of auditions, only one of those was footage of a rejected contestant.

With this abundance of bland positivity, it's no wonder the show's ratings are dropping. Hollywood week can't come soon enough.

Still, I have a job to do. So in no particular, here are the five auditions worth mentioning from last night. Just remember: I may have to eat crow come February from this statement, but don't expect any of the below to be with us come the Top 24.

Aubree Dieckmeyer

After determining what show she was auditioning for ("America's Next Top Model"? Really? Please tell me that was the producers' idea), young Aubree serenaded the judges with her rendition of jazz standard "Feeling Good." She's cute and her voice is sweet, but will she last a second in Hollywood week with such a thin higher register? I'm not so sure just yet. Still, she's probably the most intriguing of last night's hopefuls, and that counts for something... right?

Jane Carrey

The 24-year-old waitress/mom has been living under her father's shadow since she was born, and sees "Idol" as a way to establish herself as something in this world. That can be tough when your dad is Jim Carrey. After auditioning with "Something to Talk About," the judges were full of constructive criticism, but all in all liked her pretty little voice and sent her through. But make no mistake -- Jane's audition was likely only shown due to her father's star power. She's good, but don't expect to see her for long.

Kyle Crews

The 19-year-old UC Berkeley frat boy wowed the judges and impressed Steven enough to 1.) call him the "best male voice we've heard yet, and 2.) remind him of himself. Whaaa? OK, Kyle's performance of Monica's "Angel of Mine" was definitely very good, and I certainly didn't expect that sort of voice to come from his mouth, but best male voice? I'm guessing Steven was talking about the San Diego auditions. Hoping, too. Good voice, but that's some high praise, Mr. Tyler.

Jason "Wolf" Hamlin

Ah, the male rock singer! Here's something we haven't seen enough of so far this season. Jason, who goes by the nickname of Wolf (it's even printed on his work shirt), began his audition with Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Midnight Special," but it was the scruffy-faced golf course mechanic's impassioned rendition of "Folsom Prison Blues" that sealed the deal. If Wolf can howl over his "git-fiddle" (a homemade guitar) in Hollywood, he just might have a shot. Otherwise? Forget about him.

Ashley Robles

Let's call Ashley the dark horse of this group. The 26-year-old may not get remembered much beyond today, but her rendition of "I Will Always Love You" is certainly worthy of the judges' praise -- "Where you been all this time?!" exclaims Randy. However, while her turn on the chorus is powerhouse material, her lower register pales in comparison. Still, she has the voice to potentially go far, but she brings to memory one Pia Toscano -- a ballad singer who eventually became too predictable.

Also-rans: The quirky Ali Shields and her Natasha Bedingfield-esque voice, the smooth R&B (but limited range) of Jayrah Gibson.
