Jason Derulo accomplishes a first on Billboard's Pop Songs radio airplay chart, as he becomes the first solo male to notch consecutive No. 1s with his first two entries in the survey's 17-year history.
 
Derulo's "In My Head" rises 3-1 on the tally in its 17th chart week, becoming his second leader. "Whatcha Say" began a four-week reign on the chart dated Nov. 28, 2009.
 
The songs, both of which he co-wrote, appear on Derulo's self-titled debut album, which has sold 92,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The 20-year-old Miami-born singer performed his new No. 1 on "American Idol" last Wednesday (April 7).
 
"It started with a dream. I share this honor with my fans and radio," Derulo tells Billboard.

"Without you, my music wouldn't reach any further than the confines of my own head! This is only the beginning ..."

Ten previous male soloists had topped the chart with their first entries: Shawn Mullins ("Lullaby," 1998), Eagle Eye Cherry ("Save Tonight," 1998), Ricky Martin ("Livin' La Vida Loca," 1999), Lou Bega ("Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit Of...)," 2000), Gavin DeGraw ("I Don't Want to Be," 2005), Chris Brown ("Run It!," 2005), Ne-Yo ("So Sick," 2006), Flo Rida ("Low," 2008), Jay Sean ("Down," featuring Lil Wayne, 2009) and Iyaz ("Replay," 2009).
 
Until this week, however, no male artist had duplicated his initial chart dominance with a follow-up No. 1 in a second chart appearance.
