The Wombats Rock Jessie J

With a synth and guitars, The Wombats turn Jessie J's poppy "Price Tag" into a Brit-rock confection in this week's Mashup Mondays installment.

"We saw Jessie J perform at a TV show in France that we were also performing on," Wombats frontman Matthew Murphy says of the band's first e encounter with her. "She has a serious set of pipes on her. And "Price Tag" is a good pop song with quite a sweet sentiment.

Though their sound is far from Jessie J's pop, the Liverpool trio -- rounded out by Dan Higgis and Tord Overland-Knudsen -- both artists, eerily, have risen to No. 23 on the charts. Jessie J.'s "Price Tag" hit that mark on Billboard's Hot 100 while the Wombats earned that rank on the UK singles chart with recent single "Tokyo (Vampires & Wolves)."

The Wombats' new album "This Modern Glitch" is its first in three years. Check out a special performance of the album's single, "Tokyo," below. And catch them this fall at New Orleans' Voodoo Experience festival.
