The Band Perry Turns Queen's 'Fat Bottomed Girls' Country

After Patrick Stump's rockin' cover of Big Boi's "Shutterbug," and cover duo Karmin playing Foster The People, the Mashup Mondays post-season continues this week with The Band Perry covering countrifying Queen's "Fat Bottomed Girls" -- and just in time for the launch of our country blog, The 615, tomorrow (Nov. 1).

A co-ed Alabama country trio covering an English rock band's 1978 tune (from an album called "Jazz" no less)? The song's built-in country twinge works perfectly with siblings Kimberly, Neil and Reid's natural harmonies.

Not that the Band Perry has any shortage of its own great tunes. The band's year-old self-titled debut wowed the country world, and the group has generated three Country Songs chart hits including "If I Die Young," which landed at No. 1 on that chart, and "You Lie," which reached No. 2 this summer. Considering that, it comes as no surprise the trio is up for New Artist of the Year at this year's American Music Awards. They're also on the road through November on a bill with Reba McEntire.
