Twentysomething electropop singer/songwriter Lights may have been born sixteen years after the Who unleashed the 1971 power ballad "Behind Blue Eyes," but in this week's Mashup Monday, the young Canadian, armed only with an acoustic guitar, takes on the Pete Townshend-penned classic.

"I used to have this little punk pop band, and I don't know why we did 'Behind Blue Eyes,' because it's not punk pop. But we did, it was our slow jam," says Lights, whose 2009 album "The Listening" is  currently No. 4 on the Heatseekers chart and whose single "Drive My Soul" is in the top 20 of the Canadian Hot 100.

The Who, of course, has seen plenty of chart action in its forty-five year career. "Who's Next," the album that "Behind Blue Eyes" appears on, climbed to No. 4 on the Billboard 200 album chart when it was released in 1971.
