Next week on the Billboard 200 albums chart, rock band Avenged Sevenfold is gunning for a possible No. 1 debut with its new "Nightmare" set. Initial sales projections from industry prognosticators suggest that the album could sell in the range of 160,000 to 180,000 by week's end on Sunday, Aug. 8.
Avenged Sevenfold Returns with 'Nightmare'
Of course, as we saw last week, sometimes projections don't always pan out. It ain't over until the fat lady sings next Wednesday morning when the new chart is unveiled, but if Avenged makes it to No. 1 it will mark their first chart-topper. The band's last set, a 2007 self-titled effort, debuted and peaked at No. 4 with 94,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Eminem's "Recovery" has a chance at holding at No. 1 for a sixth frame. This past week, the album shifted 187,000 with a small decline of just 4% compared to the previous frame. However, that tiny drop in sales was likely owed to the set's sale pricing and promotion at both Target and Best Buy. It's a safe bet to think that "Recovery" will see a sizable drop after the glow of the sale pricing wears off, and that drop could be enough to let Avenged enter at No. 1.

Avenged Sevenfold's "Nightmare" may be the only debut in the top 10 next week. The next-highest entering set could be Tech N9ne's new collabos offering "The Gates Mixed Plate," which aiming for the top 15.
