Video: John Mayer Says 'Battle Studies' Reflects His Personal Growth

Mayer tells Billboard.com that "Battle Studies" is "an absolute return to music" and explains why his new album marks an improvement over 2006's "Continuum."

With a show at New York's Beacon Theatre that is being broadcast tonight (Nov. 17) on Fuse, John Mayer sat down for a chat featured on The Daily Noise, brought to you by Billboard and Fuse.Tv.  Mayer, whose new album "Battle Studies," is out today, had much more to say than the regular "New Noise" segment could hold, so we're glad to give the Mayer fans out there some more highlights from the interview. Check out the video below, in which he sums up his generation with a facial expression, sings a capella, talks about fame vis a vis songwriting, and explains why the album's first single, "Who Says," is a "quiet, cool self-defense against this real crazy fake conservatism that everybody has."

The broadcast of Mayer's show on Fuse begins at 9pm EST. And visit the Daily Noise here on Billboard.com tomorrow when our intrepid John Mayer fan winner, who was flown to New York to cover the show, does his on-camera report.
