RECORD-'BREAK'ER: The Script rewrites history on Billboard's Adult Pop Songs radio airplay chart, where "Breakeven" completes a record-setting 36-week rise to the summit with a 2-1 lift. The song debuted at the chart's anchor spot, No. 40, on the list dated Sept. 26, 2009.

The track's steady ascent to the top bests the previous milestone mark in the chart's 14-year history by one week. Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars" reached No. 1 in its 35th frame in February 2007.

Among Adult Pop Songs reporters, WRVE (99.5 the River)/Albany, New York, first played "Breakeven," according to Nielsen BDS, followed by WKRQ (Q102)/Cincinnati. Epic Records senior VP/promotion Jacqueline Saturn says that the latter station "flat out told us that 'Breakeven' was a No. 1 record before we went for airplay.

"Radio's passion for the band never wavered. To say we are thrilled is an understatement."

With its command of Adult Pop Songs, the Script tops its second U.S. Billboard chart. "Breakeven" led Heatseekers Songs for four weeks beginning in January.


VIEW FROM THE TOP: Erykah Badu earns her third No. 1, and first in more than 11 years, on the Adult R&B chart, as "Window Seat" climbs 2-1.

Badu last reigned for five weeks beginning in December 1997 with "Tyrone." She first led for six weeks with "Next Lifetime" in summer 1997.

"Window Seat" previously made headlines for its risqué video in which Badu appears clothes-free. "I been naked all along in my words actions and deeds. thats the real vulnerable place," Badu said via Twitter amidst the video's early buzz.

The singer additionally Tweeted her amusement at criticism to the clip.

"Funny, i thought i was outta shape thus encouraging others toward self love .. but they think im showin off . lol . the irony."


TORRES TOPS TWO: Diego Torres celebrates his first No. 1 on Latin Songs, as "Guapa" blasts 7-1. The song soars as the chart's Greatest Gainer (13.6 million in audience, up 50%).

The Buenos Aires, Argentina-born singer rules for the first time with his 10th chart entry. He first appeared on Latin Songs April 27, 1996, with the No. 16-peaking "Penelope."

On Latin Pop Songs, "Guapa" advances 2-1 to become Torres' second leader on the list. He spent a week at No. 1 with "Se Que Ya No Volveras" on the chart dated June 7, 1997.
