Ottawa pop radio station CISS (105.3 KISS FM) has sent Carrie Underwood to the penalty box.

Following the trade yesterday (Feb. 10) of her husband, National Hockey League center Mike Fisher, a 12-year veteran of the Ottawa Senators, to the Nashville Predators, the signal has pulled all of the country star's songs from its playlist.

"Since #MikeFisher is getting traded to #Nashville ... we are banning #CarrieUnderwood from our radio station!," reads the station's Twitter feed.

Fisher joined the Senators in 1999 and tallied 167 goals with the only NHL team whose sweater he had ever donned.

"I'm sure there was a lot of teams that would've coveted Mike," Predators general manager David Poile said. "But, the fit for Nashville we're hoping is going to be an attractive situation for Mike and his wife."

"It'll be kind of like going home for me. I'm sure my wife won't be disappointed, either. I think it's a great place for me and family," Fisher told SENS TV.

Added Underwood in a statement, "Mike has been such a big part of the (Ottawa) community, and I will never forget how they welcomed me with open arms. We obviously love Nashville, and the teams' decision for him to now play with the Predators is an exciting opportunity for Mike.

"I support him wherever he plays!"

CISS program director Gayle Zarbatany says the station has no plans to lift the ban on Underwood (whose newest single, "Songs Like This," debuts this week at No. 52 on Billboard's (U.S.-based) Country Songs chart).

"This is a wretching announcement and the city is completely upset. He's the (team's) second-most popular player and it's awful."

Still, Zarbatany understands the logic of the transaction.

"He's married to her. Where is he going to live? She's in Nashville and he's here."
