'LOVE' AT FIRST 'VISION': While the Billboard Hot 100 this week nineteen years ago sported a new No. 1, the leap of another song marked the landmark first top five for a rookie who would go on to become music royalty.

Glenn Medeiros rose 2-1 with "She Ain't Worth It," featuring Bobby Brown. The song was the first No. 1 for Medeiros and the second for Brown. The former New Edition member had reigned in 1989 with "My Prerogative" (fifteen years before Britney Spears covered the song).

Few could've foreseen, however, the significance of the move of the song at No. 5. On July 21, 1990, Mariah Carey inked her first top five with the 14-5 vault of "Vision of Love." The song became her first of 26 career top five titles to date.

19 years later, only two artists have posted more top fives on the Hot 100: the Beatles (29) and Madonna (28).

'DANCE' CHART: One of country music's most celebrated compositions crowned Hot Country Songs 19 years ago this week.

Garth Brooks spent a second week at No. 1 with "The Dance." The ballad became his second of 19 No. 1s. It was honored as Song of the Year and Video of the Year by the Academy of Country Music in 1990.

While Brooks commanded the chart, another title was peaking at an unassuming No. 70 on Hot Country Songs.

After its original run, this song returned to the chart last November, newly recorded by Kenny Chesney featuring its original performer.

This February, "Down the Road" became the 16th No. 1 for Chesney and, 19 years after its initial appearance, the first leader for its writer, Mac McAnally.

HAMMER TIME: Here is the top 10 on the Billboard 200 the week of July 21, 1990. Outside the top 10, Mariah Carey's self-titled debut album soared 31-15, Matthew and Gunnar Nelson bowed at No. 136 with "After the Rain" and Madonna almost book ended the chart. "Like a Prayer" ranked at No. 199 in its 64th week, while a soundtrack featuring her music placed at No. 2:
