As if The Strokes covering The Cars was not enough NME cred for one stage, Julian Casablancas and company were joined by '90s Britpop star and Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker at the Reading Festival this past weekend across the pond.

In a genuine aww-enducing moment, Casablancas seemed visibly excited to have "The Jarv" (as he referred to him) onstage, as the two tore through The Cars' proto-new wave hit, "Just What I Needed." After flubbing some words in the song's first verse, the two eventually got their act together, like the alt-rock icons they are. Gallagher brothers take note: rival NME cover boys can get along! Watch below.

Pulp played Reading as part of a recent string of reunion shows around Europe and Australia (they haven't come stateside in close to a decade), while The Strokes are still out promoting their comeback album, "Angles," while also beginning work on their fifth studio LP.
