Matisyahu Brings the Hanukkah Love with 'Miracle'

Matisyahu

Hasidic hero Matisyahu's new light-hearted video for "Miracle" has the reggae rapper ice skating through a winter wonderland and facing a Greek god in a heated hockey match. As the first day of Hanukkah tomorrow (Dec. 1) approaches, "Miracle" brings the holiday cheer just in time.

Video: Matisyahu, "Miracle"

With Hanukkah-referencing lyrics such as, "Eight is the number of infinity / One more than you know how to be / This is the light of festivity," "Miracle" is an ode to the Jewish holiday. Matisyahu is also bringing his holiday songs on tour with his annual stretch of "Festival of Light" shows, which kicked off Monday (Nov. 29) in Brooklyn, NY.

Matisyahu's journey starts off with him showing two kids how to skate before being hit by another skater wearing a Santa Claus outfit. The accident transports Matisyahu into a dream-like world where a Greek god invites him to a party where there's "chocolate stuff."

Before the singer can answer, a gladiator comes in and instead takes the singer to a Christmas tree-covered skating rink, where the friendly battle against the Greek god begins.

The clip is full of religious symbolism, but ultimately, Matisyahu keeps it humorous. For crying outloud, he dances around in a Santa costume! Oh, and if you were wondering, Matisyahu -- and thus, Hanukkah -- wins the skate-off.
