It is officially the halfway point in the land of "Dancing With the Stars." This week the contestants were told to create a ballroom dance for the brand new "TV Theme" challenge.

Brandy landed herself at the top of the leader board this week with her quick step to the "Friends" theme song, The Rembrandts' "I'll Be There For You." The R&B singer amazed the judges and caused Bruno Tonioli to break his pen by trying to keep time with the singer's flying feet. With a combined score of 27, Brandy and her partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy have made it to first place for the first time in the competition.

Bristol Palin was tasked with upping her performance level this week. To help with her expressions, Palin's partner Mark Ballas put her in a gorilla suit for the opening bars of their jive to the theme song of The Monkees's TV show. The suits were a hit with the judges, and while they were able to hide whether Palin was making the right expressions with her face, they couldn't mask the fact that she didn't know the steps. If Palin makes it to next week's round, she'll have to focus hard on combining performance with technique.

NBA star Rick Fox has been a dark horse this season: with his extreme height a problem for his petite partner Cheryl Burke, Fox has oscillated between graceful and robotic when it comes to commanding the dance floor. Last night he performed an impressive rhumba to the theme song of "Hill Street Blues," originally performed by Mike Post andg Larry Carlton. Fox may be a giant, but man can he move those hips.

The results of last nights dancing will air tonight at 9 P.M. ET on ABC, with scheduled performances from Jason Derulo and Shakira. Next week the stars will have to take on two dances for the first time.
