TLC

The TLC story is heading from the headlines to Hollywood.

VH1 will produce a scripted made-for-TV movie about the hip-hop/R&B trio, the network announced on Thursday, the first of a series of planned music biopics.

Screenwriter Kate Lanier ("Glitter," "What's Love Got to Do with It") will pen the script. Casting for Tionne "T-Boz" Watkins, Rozonda "Chilli" Thomas and Lisa "Left Eye" Lopes, as well as a release date, has yet to be announced.

The group's real-life saga isn't short on drama: the tale includes millions of record sales, personal conflicts, a burned-down house, bankruptcy and the untimely death of Lopes in 2002.

"The reality of this brings me to tears because I am seeing one of my dreams come to life," Thomas said in a release. "I always felt our story had to be told."

Thomas and Watkins will serve among the film's executive producers and will also consult on the film. It won't be their first TV experience: the pair starred in the 2005 reality competition "R U The Girl" and Thomas has spent two seasons in VH1's reality show "What Chilli Wants," among their other small-screen appearances.
