For the finale of the 2011 Mashup Mondays season, Charlottesville, Virginia's Parachute turns the super self-assured R&B strut of Keri Hilson's "Pretty Girl Rock" into a sweet, poppy acoustic rock bounce.

"Keri Hilson is a) the most beautiful human being on the planet. B) I remember hearing it for the first time and listening to it ten times in a row. I figured it was worth a try" says Parachute singer Will Anderson on why the band chose Hilson's song. "And there's a small chance Kerri will hear it and then she and I can start dating an eventually get married. That's the main goal," Anderson jokes.

More seriously, Anderson adds that, "certain songs lend themselves to the acoustic, but that one especially was very much made for it. A good song transcends all that stuff and luckily Keri's such a good songwriter."

Musical and personal motivation aside, Parachute and Hilson come from different ends of the sonic spectrum, but they do have chart success in common. Though only four years into their career, the band, rounded out by drummer Johnny Stubblefield, bassist Alex Hargrave, sax/keyboardist Kit French and guitarist Nate McFarland, have seen 2011 album "The Way It Was" crack the top 20 of the Billboard 200 album chart and rise all the way to No. 7 on the Rock Albums tally. Hilson, meanwhile, saw "Pretty Girl Rock" rocket to No. 4 on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart in February and she's also seen No. 1 on that chart (in 2009 with the Kanye West & Ne-Yo aided "Knock You Down.")
