Grammys Rocked by Tragedy, but Show Must Go On

With the death of Whitney Houston just hours earlier, it's hard to focus on the matter of crowning the best in recorded music -- but Sunday night's Grammy Awards are going to try.

Kanye West, Skrillex, Tony Bennett, Foo Fighters and... Betty White are among the winners of the Pre-Telecast Grammy ceremony. A handful of major trophies were presented before the main Grammy ceremony, which kicks off from the Staples Center in Los Angeles at 8 pm EST.

West has earned three Grammys thus far, winning Best Rap Album for "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" and Best Rap Collaboration and Best Rap Song for that album's single "All of the Lights." "Fantasy" defeated "Watch The Throne," West's collaborative album with Jay-Z, for the Best Rap Album prize.

Skrillex has taken home three awards as well: his "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" album won Best Dance/Electronica Album, the title track earned Best Dance Recording, and his remix to Benny Benassi's "Cinema" won Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical. The dubstep phenom is vying for Best New Artist against Bon Iver, The Band Perry, Nicki Minaj and J. Cole.

Tony Bennett has won Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for "Body and Soul," his duet with the late Amy Winehouse, as well as Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album for his "Duets II" disc. Foo Fighters have taken home three Grammys, including Best Rock Album for "Wasting Light," while Bon Iver's sophomore album won the Best Alternative Album trophy. Taylor Swift won Best Country Solo Performance and Best Country Song, both for her "Speak Now" hit "Mean."

The incomparable Betty White has won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Album for "If You Ask Me (And Of Course You Won't)," and Louis C.K. earned Best Comedy Album for "Hilarious." And, unsurprisingly, Adele has already taken home a Grammy, as her sophomore smash "21" was named Best Pop Vocal Album.

Adele, Katy Perry, Chris Brown, Coldplay, Bruce Springsteen and Jennifer Hudson's tribute to Whitney Houston will be among the performances at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards.
