Skrillex May Get First Top 10 Album Next Week

Skrillex

Five-time Grammy Award nominee Skrillex may be on his way to his first top 10 album, as his latest release, "Bangarang," could charge into the Billboard 200 chart's top 10 next week.

He just earned his best week ever on the Billboard 200 as the digital-exclusive set bowed at No. 19 last week with 24,000 sold according to Nielsen SoundScan. That marked both the electronic artist's highest charting album and biggest sales week yet.

"Bangarang" is holding together rather well in its second week of sales and may jump into the top 10 next week, as evidenced by SoundScan's Building chart below. The tally is a precursor to the final Billboard 200 ranking -- reflecting the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (ending Sunday, Jan. 8) as reported by six major
merchants. On the Building chart, Skrillex can be found at No. 9.

To the shock of no one, Adele's "21" is at No. 1 on the Building chart, while Drake's "Take Care" is No. 2 and the Black Keys' "El Camino" is No. 3.

SafetySuit's new iTunes-exclusive "These Times" is found at No. 4 but may ultimately debut a little bit lower on the final Billboard 200 chart. Usually, iTunes-exclusive sets peak early in the week, resulting in a misleading Building Chart position. Once the weekend is over, it's likely SafetySuit will settle for a ranking somewhere in the Nos. 5-10 range.

Young Jeezy's "T M:103 Hustlerz Ambition" is No. 5, Coldplay's "Mylo Xyloto" is No. 6 and LMFAO's "Sorry for Party Rocking" is No. 7. Rounding out the the Building chart's top 10 are Rihanna's "Talk That Talk," Skrillex and Florence + the Machine's "Ceremonials" at Nos. 8-10, respectively.

The new Billboard 200 chart's top 10 will be revealed on the morning of Wednesday, Jan. 11.

The Building Chart reflects the first four days (Monday through Thursday) of SoundScan's tracking week (which ends Sunday) as reported by six major merchants: iTunes, Trans World Entertainment, Best Buy, Starbucks, Target and Anderson Merchandisers. Billboard estimates that they make up about 85% of all U.S. album sales.
