Michael Buble's 'Christmas' Aiming for 400,000-Plus Week at No. 1

As we reported on Thursday (Dec. 8), Michael Buble's "Christmas" album is on its way to a third straight week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart, so say industry prognosticators.

Ahead of Michael Buble's expected third week at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with his holiday album "Christmas," the crooner makes history on the Adult Contemporary chart.

Buble's ballad remake of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" spends a third week at No. 1 on Adult Contemporary while fellow "Christmas" cut "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas" shoots 7-2. With the placements, Buble becomes the first artist to monopolize the chart's top two spots simultaneously since the radio airplay chart adopted Nielsen BDS data in 1993.

"This is the record I've wanted to make my whole life," Buble says of "Christmas." "In a lot of the tracks, I think you could probably hear me smiling."

Buble additionally ranks in the top 10 with "Have a Holly Jolly Christmas" (3-5) and "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town," which bounds 16-8. Buble, thus, becomes the first artist in the chart's BDS-powered history to claim four of the 10 top titles in the same week.

For a third frame, Buble charts six songs in all on Adult Contemporary, as his duet of "White Christmas" with Shania Twain dips 12-16 and his collaboration with the Puppini Sisters, "Jingle Bells," dashes 25-23. Previously since 1993, Clay Aiken had dotted the chart with as many as five songs at once (2005).

The Santa-esque popularity of Buble's yuletide album further yields him his first appearances on Billboard Christian Songs survey, where "Beginning" and "Silent Night" debut at Nos. 47 and 48, respectively.

In its first six weeks, "Christmas" has sold 1,038,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The album is one of just seven to shift more than a million units this year.

As forecasted, the set could add another 400,000 to its sum when the Billboard 200, and all charts, are refreshed Thursday (Dec. 15), as they are each week, on Billboard.com.
