A song about persistence fittingly matches the mark for most weeks spent on Billboard's 66-year-old Country Songs chart.
Although it dips from a peak to-date of No. 4 to No. 5 (with a bullet) in its 54th week, Lee Brice's "Love Like Crazy" equals the mark for most frames spent on the survey dating to its launch in 1944.
Brice's first Country Songs top 10 ties the 54-week residence of Eddy Arnold's "Bouquet of Roses," which began its chart stay the week of May 15, 1948, and logged a 19-week reign at No. 1.
"Just ask him how he made it / he'll tell you faith and sweat," Brice sings in his historic hit, echoing the song's chart fortunes.
"Love Like Crazy" debuted on the Nielsen BDS-based Country Songs radio airplay chart at No. 58 the week of Sept. 5, 2009, with 352,000 audience impressions on 13 reporters. This week, on the chart dated Sept. 11, 2010, the song breaks the 30-million weekly audience barrier (30.1 million) for the first time - with airplay on all 126 panelists - upping its combined total to 495 million impressions throughout its chart life.
With another week on Country Songs next week, Brice would rewrite the chart longevity record that had belonged to Arnold solely for 61 years.
