30 years into his unparalleled career, the "King of Country" shows no signs of abdicating the throne.

George Strait reaches an historic Billboard chart milestone, as he collects a top 10 hit on the Country Songs survey in an unprecedented 30th consecutive year. The Country Music Hall of Fame singer's "I Gotta Get to You" jumps from No. 12 to No. 9 on the radio airplay list.

No artist in the history of any Billboard chart had previously linked such a lengthy streak of top 10 titles.

Strait first reached the top 10 on Country Songs with his first chart entry, "Unwound," in 1981. He has sent at least one song into the top bracket each year since.

In his career, "I Gotta Get to You" marks Strait's 82nd top 10 on Country Songs, a sum second only to Eddy Arnold's record 92. Billboard's Country Songs chart launched in 1944; since 1990, it has utilized monitored airplay data provided by Nielsen BDS.

Included in Strait's count of 82 top 10s are 44 No. 1s, the most by any artist on any Billboard chart. He first reigned with "Fool Hearted Memory" in 1982. He most recently led with "River of Love" a year ago this month.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) has certified Strait as the 12th-best-selling artist in U.S. history, with career album sales of 68.5 million.

His current album, "Twang," has sold 551,000 copies since its release in August, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
