Anchored by once-in-a-lifetime performances and multiple premieres and unique collaborations, the 2015 Billboard Latin Music Awards presented by State Farm delivered its most-watched broadcast in history, with 2.9 million viewers, according to Nielsen.
The show, which aired live April 30 on Telemundo, ranked No. 1 in its time period in New York, Miami, Houston and Phoenix among adults 18-49, regardless of language.
All told, the show reached a cumulative audience of 6.4 million total viewers and 3.36 million adults 18-49. In addition, La Alfombra de los Premios Billboard (The Billboard Awards Carpet), which led up to the awards, also delivered its best-ever performance, averaging 1.7 million viewers.
The Billboard Latin Music Awards featured performances by top winner Romeo Santos -- who earlier in the week performed live on the Today show on NBC -- and Jennifer Lopez, who performed a tribute medley to the late Selena, backed by a band that included Selena's siblings (A.B. and Suzette Quintanilla) and husband Chris Perez.
Other highlights of the evening were Afrojack's performance with Ne-Yo and pop star Luis Fonsi, Juanes with Carlos Santana, and the TV premiere of several new singles, including Gente De Zona's "La Gozadera," featuring Marc Anthony, and Wisin's "Nota de Amor," featuring Carlos Vives and Daddy Yankee.
Romeo Santos and Enrique Iglesias were the top winners of the evening, picking up 10 and nine awards, respectively.
