The 2014 Billboard Music Awards just became a little more royal: Lorde, one of the biggest breakout artists of the year, will perform her new single "Tennis Court" at this year's ceremony, being held on Sunday, May 18 in Las Vegas. The performance will mark the first time the New Zealand singer-songwriter has performed "Tennis Court" on television.
Lorde joins previously announced performers including Miley Cyrus, Ricky Martin, Jennifer Lopez, Pitbull, 5 Seconds of Summer, Florida Georgia Line, Jason Derulo, Imagine Dragons, Luke Bryan, John Legend and OneRepublic. Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood will also make the television debut of the new duet, "Somethin' Bad," at the 2014 Billboard Music Awards.
Last year, Lorde's debut single "Royals" became a ubiquitous smash, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and later earning the Grammy Award for Song of the Year. "Tennis Court" also follows the Top 10 single "Team," which was included on Lorde's debut album "Pure Heroine." Lorde is tied with Imagine Dragons for being a finalist in the most categories at this year's Billboard Music Awards, including Top New Artist, Top Female Artist and Top Hot 100 Artist.
