A documentary on Mexican guitarists Rodrigo y Gabriela, a fictional film from Flight of the Conchords’ Jermaine Clement and a rock ‘n’ roll road movie have been added to the SXSW Film Festival.
In addition, Mike Myers, who makes his directorial debut with the documentary “Supermensch” on former Alice Cooper-Blondie manager Shep Gordon, will speak with Jon Favreau at a session on March 10.
Alejandro Franco Fernández’s “For Those About to Rock: The Story of Rodrigo y Gabriela” will receive its world premiere at the festival as will John Jeffcoat’s “Big in Japan,” a comedy about a struggling Seattle rock band that heads to Tokyo for a final shot at acceptance.
“What We Do In the Shadows,” Clement’s film with Taika Waititi, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival.
Marc Webb, the music video director (Green Day “21 Guns,” AFI “Miss Murder,” etc.) who directed “The Amazing Spider-Man,” will discuss the upcoming sequel in a keynote address on Marc 8. Robert Duvall, Tilda Swinton and Jason Bateman have also been added as speakers at the festival.
