Ke$ha, Far*East Movement, OneRepublic, Ryan Tedder and Ne-Yo are the newest additions to the stellar lineup of performers for the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, which will air on ABC next Sunday (May 22) 8-11pm ET/PT, from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
After providing Flo Rida's unstoppable hit "Right Round" with its infectious chorus in 2009, Ke$ha became one of 2010's biggest breakout stars, hitting No. 1 on the Hot 100 on her first try as a solo artist with "TiK ToK," and releasing a slew of electro-driven hits like "Your Love is My Drug," "Take It Off" and "We R Who We R." The pop singer then toured with Rihanna and helped Britney Spears with her "Till the World Ends" remix, while her latest single, "Blow," resides in the top 10 on the current Hot 100.
With hits like "So Sick," "Closer" and "Miss Independent" under his belt, Grammy-winning R&B star Ne-Yo released his comic book-inspired fourth album, "Libra Scale," last November. The talented songwriter has stayed busy working on new tracks with Justin Bieber and Carrie Underwood, and can be heard on Pitbull's current hit, "Give Me Everything."
After Far*East Movement rode their dance floor smash "Like a G6" to No. 1 last fall, the electro-pop quartet returned with "Rocketeer," which featured singer-songwriter Ryan Tedder on the hook. Tedder will also perform with the rest of his group, OneRepublic, which followed its 2008 breakout single "Apologize" with hits like "All the Right Moves" and "Secrets," both featured on 2009 sophomore disc "Waking Up."
Rihanna, Eminem, Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber lead the finalists for the 2011 Billboard Music Awards, which were announced in April at a press conference in Las Vegas. Hosted by Ken Jeong, the awards will take a holistic look at artist performance based on key fan interactions with music, including sales data shared by Nielsen SoundScan, radio airplay monitored by Nielsen BDS, streaming data measured by Tubemogul and Nielsen BDS, social media consumption gauged by Next Big Sound and tour grosses tracked by Billboard Boxscore. Finalists and winners are determined by chart performance and social and streaming activity as chronicled in Billboard magazine and on Billboard.com during the eligibility period of Feb, 28, 2010 and Mar. 1, 2011.
