Chris Cornell Pens Original Track For 'Machine Gun Preacher' Soundtrack

Chris Cornell has written and recorded "The Keeper" for the film "Machine Gun Preacher." Relativity Music Group will release the movie's soundtrack on Sept. 20.

Cornell premiered the song on his website Monday, giving fans the chance to donate to Sam Childers' Angels of East Africa charity. The charity is dedicated to the rescue of children caught in the crossfire of the Lord's Resistance Army, a rebel military group in Uganda and Sudan.

"Machine Gun Preacher" stars Gerard Butler and is based on the true story of Sam Childers, a former drug-dealing criminal who finds faith leading him on a path to help the children of East Africa.

The "Machine Gun Preacher" soundtrack features 15 cues composed and performed by Asche & Spencer, who are accompanied by a 60-piece Slovak National Symphony Orchestra.
