The NFL and NBC made the announcement during the network's "Sunday Night Football" matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Detroit Lions. The 53-year-old pop superstar will take the Super Bowl stage for the first time on Feb. 5, 2012, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Since Janet Jackson's infamous wardrobe malfunction in 2004, the Super Bowl halftime show has hosted performances by Prince, the Rolling Stones, Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers and U2, , among others. Madonna will reportedly partner with a creative team from Cirque du Soleil, multimedia artists from Moment Factory and choreographer Jamie King to put her unique imprint on the halftime show.
"Give Me All Your Love," the first sampling of Madonna's follow-up to 2008's "Hard Candy," leaked online in demo form in early November. Her manager, Guy Oseary, responded on Twitter, "The plan was for new music to come out in the new year, and yet someone leaked a demo version of a song yesterday. I'm very happy with the positive reaction to the demo, but we are very upset with whoever leaked the song!!!" Last week, M.I.A. let it slip that she, Madonna and Nicki Minaj were working on a new song together.
