Maria Badillo has been named vice president of programming and production for cable network Tr3s, according to a spokesperson for Viacom International Media Networks/the Americas.
In her new role, Badillo will oversee the company's programming strategies and original production output across all of Tr3s content platforms.
"Maria will ensure that our rich and diversified slate, as well as our new and established productions, will allserve the creative vision for our network and our audience," said Fernando Gaston, brand manager for Tr3s, in a prepared statement. "As we launch our new prime-time slot, this is the perfect moment for Maria to take the reins."
For nearly two decades, Badillo has worked in programming, production, marketing and new media. The executive has previously worked as director of programming and acquisitions for DiscoveryNetworks Latin America/US Hispanic where she was responsible for developing and programming strategies across several brands.
From 2009 to 2012, Badillo held several positions at Discovery including branding entertainment producer and before that she was senior vice president of programming and production at Sorpresa! Network.
A native of Mexico, Badillo has a master's degree in science (television program) from Boston University and a bachelor's degree in communications and public relations from Universidad Latinoamericana S.C. in Mexico City.
Viacom International Media Networks-the Americas, is a unit of Viacom Inc. and according to a network official, reaches 35 million total TV households of which more than 6 million are Hispanic TV households.
